800 cubic yards of concrete poured for Sherman Tower as downtown projects progress

COEUR d’ALENE — Even over the roar of cement trucks, the excitement in Coeur d’Alene Resort President Bill Reagan’s voice was evident Friday as he gave an update on the Sherman Tower project.
Eight hundred cubic yards of concrete were poured in one day to create the second floor of Hagadone Hospitality’s newest venture.
It marked the largest concrete pour of the entire project, as the second floor will extend off both sides of the building to accommodate the hotel’s restaurant and rooftop bar.
“This is the toughest part right here,” Reagan said.
Each of Interstate Concrete’s 20 trucks held 10 cubic yards of concrete and drivers made four trips back and forth from the facility in Post Falls throughout the day to get the job done.
“They dedicated their whole plant to this job,” Reagan said.
What happens next, as Reagan put it, “is just duplicated 15 times” as each floor makes its way up into the Sherman Avenue skyline.
Projected to open in May of 2027, the 15-story Sherman Tower will have 139 guest rooms, three luxury suites, a modern Mexican seafood and steak restaurant, and a rooftop bar with retractable glass walls. Single-loaded corridors will give every room a view of Lake Coeur d’Alene.
“We’re fortunate to have an outstanding contractor and subcontractor team in place,” Coeur d’Alene Resort Marketing Director Amy VanSickle said.
Reagan said work on the Sherman Tower is about a week ahead of schedule.
“We’ve been moving really well,” he said.
Just down the road at Third Street and Front Avenue, construction on The Thomas George luxury condos is also coming along.
The lower floors of the 18-story building are expected to be occupiable by the end of the month, said Hayden Anderl, principal of Anderl Real Estate and Development.
The Thomas George will have 60 luxury condominiums, in addition to a restaurant, coffee shop and other amenities.
“Interest and sales remain very strong with 49 of 60 units sold,” Anderl said.
Developers of the project have reached an agreement in principle with “a prominent local restaurateur” and are in discussions for a coffee shop to go in the commercial suite along Front Street.
An art installation is planned for the southeastern side of the building, along with brass plaques for the exterior to pay homage to the city’s historic steamships.
“(They) were a major presence on the lake in the early days of our area,” Anderl said.
Another property, a six-story AC Hotel by Marriott, is also in the works at Sixth and Sherman. Providence Development broke ground at the end of 2024 but could not be reached for comment on the project’s progress.

Coeur d'Alene chamber grows to nearly 1,000 members as it continues to evolve
A sepia-toned photograph of about 30 businessmen hangs in the office of Coeur d’Alene Regional Chamber’s President and CEO, Linda Coppess. Though dressed in the fashion of decades past, the men gathered for a purpose that has endured: uplifting area businesses through the Chamber. The photo is a reminder of the Chamber’s 114 years of history, Coppess said in her address to nearly 200 attendees at Tuesday morning’s Breakfast Connect event.
