Janet Ann MacDonald, 84, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, passed away peacefully Sept. 9, 2025, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House.
Born in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, in 1941, to Ron and Betty MacDonald, Janet attended St. Thomas Elementary and IHM Academy. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Idaho (Alpha Chai Omega Sorority).
She loved her work as an elementary school teacher in Fairfield, Calif., specializing in reading. She later returned to Coeur d’Alene and continued her teaching career as a tutor and substitute teacher.
Janet had a lifelong connection to St. Thomas, and more recently, St. Pius Catholic Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, enjoyed attending musicals and cherished time with her family and close friends.
She is survived by her sister, Anne Miller of Gig Harbor, Wash., niece Jaime Erdmann (Nathan) of Gig Harbor, Wash., nephew Ryan Miller of Seattle, Wash., grandnephews Caeden and Drew, and grandnieces Chloe and Hazel.
Janet will be remembered for her kind heart, quick wit, deep faith and love for her family. Her laughter and unwavering optimism were gifts to everyone who knew her.
