James Phillip Groschupf, 94

James “Jim” Groschupf was born Feb. 18, 1931, the second son of Dr. T.P. and Julie Groschupf of Bemidji, Minnesota. He graduated from Bemidji High School in 1948 where he played both golf and football. Jim attended Carleton College in Minnesota for one year, then returned to Bemidji State University (BSU) to pursue a degree in business. Jim served in the United States Army as an Engineer Supply Specialist as a Corporal, a noncommissioned officer in the Army, where he led his unit and received the National Defense Service Medal and Army of Occupation Medal in Germany in 1953. Jim and his life-long partner, Perk, met in college and have been married for nearly 70 years.
Jim worked at Plum Creek Lumber Company for 34 years in sales. He served on the Columbia Falls City Council, the Board of Directors of The Whitefish Lake Golf Course, and was a member of Hoohoo Lumber Organization and Elk’s Club. Jim was a five time club champion at Whitefish Lake Golf Club, where he was also inducted into the Whitefish Lake Golf Course Hall of Fame.
Jim was preceded in death by his son, Jeff, his parents, brother Dick and wife Dee, brother Pete. Jim is survived by his wife Perk, grandsons Andre (Heather), Micah; and great grand-daughters Rosella and Hazel; and sister-in-law, Joyce Groschupf.

Funeral services will be at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 230 Baker Ave. Whitefish, MT 59937 on Monday, Sept. 22, 2025 at 11 a.m.
