Jeanette Arlene "Jani" Hartman, 80, passed away Sept. 9, 2025, at her home. She was born April 11, 1945, to Marvin and Lillian Enevold in Fosston, Minnesota. The family moved to Shelby in 1945 and then to Kalispell in 1958. Jeanette graduated from Flathead High School in 1963 and served in the Marine Corp from 1963-1965 and married Thomas Patterson but that marriage ended in divorce. She then married Glenn Hartman in 1977 until his passing in 2006. Around 2009 she met her friend and companion, Bill Schmidt until his passing in 2018.
Jani was preceded in death by her father and mother, many aunts and uncles, and cousins, her brother-in-law, Tim Holsapple, her two husbands, Thomas and Glenn, and her companion, Bill.
She is survived by her sister, Donna Holsapple, her nephew, Jeff Holsapple, his wife, Isa and her two great nieces, Emily and Mia Holsapple all from Southern California; her cousins, Debbie (Mike) Relaz, Ron (Jackee) Svien, James (Janice) Dyrdahl, and Beverly Hallberg, step-son, Charlie Hartman and step-daughter, Candice Hartman and her beloved cat, Sassy. She also leaves behind many close friends.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kalispell and at one time served as a Deacon where she visited many members of the church if they were in the hospital. Jani was very social and was asked at one time, "Is there anybody you don’t know that lives here?" Jani was never able to have children of her own, but she always said that her nephew, Jeff, was like the son she never had and then came along Emily and Mia, and she loved talking about them and sharing pictures of them with all her friends. She will be greatly missed.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Buffalo Hill Funeral Home, and a memorial service is pending.
