Whitefish golf posts strong showing against AA schools

The Whitefish golf teams haven’t faltered in tournaments against larger schools. At the Kalispell Invitational last week, the Whitefish girls had a resounding victory against AA and A schools from western Montana.  

The girls had a total score of +151 for the two-day event, played at the Village Greens on Wednesday and Buffalo Hill on Thursday. Karlee Brown led Whitefish with a solo second place finish and Rhylee Scott was third. Caroline Owens finished 12th.  

The boys team finished eighth. Aiden Rickels led the charge with a 20th place finish and Colby Minton came in at 25th.  

At the Polson Invitational the Monday prior, the girls team won by 23 shots over Dillon. Karlee Brown was first with a score of 77, Rhylee Scott was third, Caroline Owens was seventh and Ava Zignego was 15th.  

For the boys, the team placed eighth. Aiden Rickels finished third as an individual, shooting two under par for the first time with a score of 70. Nick Schmid-Somer finished 25th.  

Next up on the schedule, the team travels to Hamilton for the Hamilton Invitational on Sept. 20.
