Arlee and Mission compete at Corvallis Invite

Athletes from Arlee and Mission turned in standout performances Saturday at the Corvallis Invite, competing against a deep field of more than 50 runners from across western Montana.

Mission freshman Raileigh McDonald led the way for the local contingent, finishing 28th overall in 24 minutes, 17.08 seconds. Her teammate, fellow freshman Quincey Jensen, crossed in 36th at 27:19.18, giving Mission a promising pair of underclass runners with room to grow as the season moves forward.

Arlee fielded three freshmen who gained valuable experience on the Corvallis course. Justine Shelby paced the Warriors with a 33rd-place time of 26:00.26, while Kaidance Pierre followed close behind in 35th at 26:21.73. Izabella Knoll rounded out the Arlee group, taking 37th in 27:48.50. All three posted personal records.

In the boys race, Arlee junior Trevor Van Maanen set the tone for Lake County programs, clocking 17 minutes, 48.90 seconds to place 14th overall.

Just a few spots behind, Mission freshman Isaiah Garipey ran a 17:57.87 to take 17th. The Mission Bulldogs added depth with three more varsity finishers. Senior Jake Helser placed 42nd in 21:08.31, followed closely by junior Jason Leishman in 43rd at 21:09.31. Freshman Isaac Morigeau crossed the line in 47th (21:11.82).

Arlee also showed strength in numbers behind Van Maanen. Freshman Aarinnario North Peigan placed 35th (20:17.60), while sophomore Jason Wright followed in 37th (20:39.59). Junior William Fisher IV (44th, 21:09.76), senior Aiden Swab (45th, 21:09.97), senior Chase Courville (46th, 21:11.65) and sophomore Xander Zahir (57th, 30:52.85) gave the Warriors six finishers on the day.
