The Bonner County Republican Central Committee has passed a resolution honored Charlie Kirk, 31, as a Christian martyr for his life, faith and work.

Following the recent assassination of Kirk on Sept. 10, the BCRCC passed a resolution in a 28-3 vote honoring the life and work of Kirk.

In a press release sent out by Chairman Scott Herndon, the committee shared its commitment to follow the examples set by Kirk, which includes respectful dialogue and debate, and treating individuals with dignity and respect.

Psalm 37:32 was included in the release which says that “The wicked lie in the wait for the righteous, intent on putting them to death.”

A reminder was also included in Herndon’s sentiments, stating that “just because someone like Charlie Kirk disagrees with you does not mean they hate you. In fact, speaking truth politely to someone you disagree with should be more properly interpreted as love.”

The committee highlighted Kirk as a “energetic, effective, bold and practical speaker for a traditional American, conservative worldview that elevated the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the fundamental truths of God’s created order for people and for this nation.”

In Resolution 2025-3, the BCRCC highlighted the impact that Kirk had throughout colleges and universities through “never compromising America’s historical background that is rooted in Christianity.”

“BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the BCRCC commits to follow Charlie Kirk’s example by boldly, courageously and respectfully contending for a conservative, Republican and biblical worldview in politics and civic engagement,” committee members said in the resolution.

Twenty-eight members of the BCRCC voted in favor of the resolution, with three opposed and four absent from the meeting.
