Jerry Linden Roop returned home Aug. 30, 2025, at Boundary Community Hospital in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, surrounded by family.
Jerry was born Jan. 16, 1945, in Hanford, Calif., to Ermer (Tex) and Hazel Roop. He was their third son. They moved to the Cocolalla, Idaho, area in 1962. He was very much a real-life mountain man. He married his Eternal Sweetheart in CDA on March 16, 1969, and moved to the Naples area 45 years ago. Jerry was a loving, devoted, hardworking father who would build his home during the day and work at the sawmill at night to provide for his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two older brothers, Dustin (Dusty) and Robert (Dink); and one grandson, Sam Robyn Michael Wagner. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara; his sister, Patricia (Pat) Lawrence; brother, Frank Roop; as well as his children, Patricia (Trisha) (Stan) Embry, Katrina (Jonathan) Wagner, Tex (Amy) Roop, Amanda Anderson and Linden Roop; six grandsons, four granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.
His memorial service will be Oct. 18, 2025, at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6568 Alderson Lane, Bonners Ferry, Idaho, with a gathering in the community room of the Naples Fire Station, 20 Stagecoach Road, Naples, Idaho.
