SPOKANE — Allie Ferrin, a sophomore from University High in Spokane, had 14 kills for North Idaho College in a 16-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-18, 15-11 win over Spokane Colleges in a matchup between the border rivals at Spokane Falls Community College on Wednesday.

“Our serve and pass started slow, but once we got aggressive behind the service line, it allowed our block time to make some nice adjustments,” NIC coach Drew Pascua said. “Spokane’s defense is relentless, so they were able to get some nice transition swings that we couldn’t handle early in the match. We got control late and then lost focus, which kept them in it, but we made a couple nice plays to make up for it, which got the job done tonight.”

Sophomore Sidney Streiff had 12 kills and five blocks, sophomore Madi Harper and sophomore Jordyn Williams of Mt. Spokane High had nine kills each for NIC (8-5), which faces Indian Hills and Hutchinson at Eastern Wyoming Community College in Torrington, Wyo., on Friday.
