Pirates shut out Browning, battle Hamilton to scoreless draw

The Polson boys soccer team turned in a strong week of play, notching a 5-0 shutout victory over Browning and then grinding out a 0-0 draw against Hamilton in a defensive battle. The results pushed the Pirates to 3-1-1 overall.

Against Browning, Polson’s attack struck early and often. Archer Russell opened the scoring, followed by Aiden Davis finishing a feed from Strider Gage. Aristo Cannon added two goals—one assisted by David D’Beaupre and another unassisted—before Miles Russell capped the offense with a goal set up by D’Beaupre. The Pirates’ defense and goalkeepers Zephyr Sternick and Micah Scheer ensured the clean sheet, turning aside Browning’s attempts and controlling possession throughout.

Thursday’s home contest against Hamilton presented a much different challenge. Both teams battled through a tense 80 minutes, but neither could find the back of the net. Hamilton outshot Polson 21-16, though the Pirates generated more quality chances in the second half.

Edgar Vejez-Pete created several dangerous looks, while Jackson Bontadelli nearly broke through with a rocket midway through the half that rattled the crossbar. His final attempt in the closing seconds just missed wide of the right post. Roman Sawyer, Afton Hatch, Ruger Ellis, and Isaac Kinnick also tested Hamilton’s defense with shots that were either saved or deflected.

Goalkeeper Maddox Bird anchored Polson’s defensive effort, finishing with five saves. The Pirate back line, highlighted by key deflections from Donovan Beeks and Ellis, kept Hamilton frustrated around the box.
