Pirates test themselves at Highlander Invitational

The Polson cross country team traveled to Spokane on Saturday for the 2025 Highlander Invitational, one of the largest meets of the season - including runners from Montana, Washington and Idaho. The unique race format that breaks runners into separate class-level races. Running the 2.5-mile course at Shadle Park, the Pirates gained valuable experience against a deep field of competitors.
On the girls’ side, Morgan Delaney turned in a standout performance in the junior race, clocking 15 minutes, 19.91 seconds to win her division. Freshman Quinn Delaney wasn’t far behind, capturing the freshman race title in 15:34.17. Sophomore Koko Scott placed eighth in her class with a time of 16:42.73, while freshman Taryn Cochran finished 29th at 18:27.
The Polson boys also competed well in their respective divisions. Sophomore Wyatt Boogerd led the way with a 31st-place finish, running 14:53.86. Junior Chris Sopke placed 68th in 15:38.17, while freshman Tayshawn Edmo crossed in 15:48.79 for 40th. Senior Sheamis Cobb ran 18:18, followed by Galen Berg at 18:45.57 and Dom Venters at 19:00.24. Freshmen Brayden Bible (22:53.42) and Baylin Bible (26:54.26) rounded out the boys’ squad.
The Highlander’s class-based format gave each Pirate a chance to test themselves against peers from across Washington and beyond.
