COLUMBIA BASIN — Fall officially begins next week and there’s a lot going on in the Columbia Basin. Here are a few things to enjoy: 


Sept. 19-21 


Deutschesfest  

Four-day celebration of German heritage with parade, bed races, German food and beer garden, live music and more. Info: www.deutschesfest.net.


Sept. 19 


Wototo Children’s Choir 

Children’s choir from Uganda, East Africa, will perform songs from their album “Better Days — There Is Hope.” 7 p.m. at Moses Lake Alliance Church, 1100 N. Grape Drive. Info: 509-765-6656. 


Sept. 20 


Royal High School Drill Team Golf Scramble 

Come out for a day of golf, camaraderie, and friendly competition. On-course enhancements, thrilling challenges and plenty of prizes for all skill levels. All proceeds benefit the Royal Drill team. $400 per four-person team. Info and registration: 509-855-2499. 


Autism Acceptance Day 

Bring your friends, family, and neighbors for a day full of community, awareness, and fun to honor the autism community. Hosted by the Autism Support Group of Grant County. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in front of the Grant County Courthouse, 35 C St. NW, Ephrata. Info: grantcountyautism.org. 


Trucks Gone Wild 

Off-road competition. Basin RV Sales & Service $5,000 Bounty Hole and Winzler Vehicle Licensing $5,000 Freestyle Mega Truck Competitions highlight the event with $17,000 in payouts on the line for all competitors. ‘Hansel and Gretel’ 

Missoula Children’s Theatre casts local children in a musical play Monday, rehearses for a week then presents the play on Saturday. Open to all children K-12 and all levels of experience. Sept. 25 


Bingo Fundraiser 

$5 suggested donation to play. Bring a canned food item to make chili — kidney beans, chili beans, canned tomatoes, chili seasoning and so on — and get an extra raffle basket ticket for some fun prizes Proceeds support Care Moses Lake. Mug Design Workshop 

Not super crafty, but want to make something fun? This workshop is for you. Learn a simple, repeatable process to create your own custom festive mug. All the supplies are provided and there are all different shapes and sizes of mugs to choose from — just bring yourself and your creativity. Livin’ Loud for Lucy

Pottery Painting: Cranium Cafe Mug 

Got no energy? Here's a no-brainer: This is the perfect mug to bring you back to life, and just the right size for your morning cup of coffee or tea. Paint this bisque mug as a spooky skull for Halloween or add color to create a lifelike sugar skull to celebrate Día de los Muertos. Ages 14 and up. Introduction to Beading 

Local indigenous artist Amanda Keewatinawin will host a workshop on the indigenous art form of beading and how to create your own beaded fringe earrings. Hand curated kits and instructions will be provided for each participant along with a brief history of indigenous beadwork. Ages 18 and older. 5:30-8 p.m. at the Moses Lake Public Library, 418 E. Columbia Basin Dahlia and Cut Flower Festival

Sept. 27 


Serve for Service Pickleball Tournament 

This coed doubles tournament is open to players 18 and older, with prizes for the top five teams and surprise raffle drawings. All proceeds go to Quincy Rotary’s community programs including youth scholarships, Christmas light displays and local service projects. $60 per team; registration closes Sept. 20. Dude, Where’s My Cart? 

Fun golf tournament to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer’s disease. Golf play includes hilarious challenges that draw attention to the frustrations and limitations of dementia. Veterans Stand Down

Safe Sitter with Intro to CPR 

Safe Sitter is for young teens in grades six-eight who are ready to learn the skills they need to care for themselves and younger children. This instructor-led class is filled with fun games and role-playing exercises. Students even get to use manikins to practice rescue skills like choking rescue and CPR. In addition, Safe Sitter teaches young teens life and business skills so that they know how to be prepared, be responsible and be considerate whether they are babysitting or doing odd jobs for family, friends, or neighbors. 9 a.m. at Heart Matters Education Group, 341 Basin St. NW, Ephrata. White Trail Grange Car Show 

Free fun for the whole family. Check out classic cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors. Grange youth will sell root beer floats and Italian sodas, and Tacos El Tapatio will serve up food. A heavy yard art tractor will be raffled off. Emergency Preparedness and Self-Reliance Fair 

Help your family be prepared for when disaster strikes. Bulb Your Enthusiasm! 

Want a garden that bursts into color next spring? The secret starts underground. This lighthearted, hands-on workshop teaches the simple art of planting bulbs that reward you with tulips, daffodils and other dazzling blooms year after year. Each attendee gets bulbs to plant and a 20% discount on the day of class toward more bulbs or bulb amendments. $50 per person; space is limited. 11 a.m. at Blue Rouge Garden & Nursery, 2114 W. UMANI Festival  

UMANI is a major community-wide collaboration between individuals and many of the largest cultural institutions in our area to celebrate our community’s Hispanic heritage. Free activities include access to a low rider car show, music, barbers, artists, creative workshops, crafts and games for families, resource booths, vendors, food trucks and lucha wrestling. Make Your Own Board Game 

Families are invited to come make the board game of their dreams. The only limits are your imagination and the size of the board. Potholes Ducks Unlimited Annual Banquet and Auction 

Prime rib dinner, live auction, silent auction and raffles. Proceeds support Ducks Unlimited in its mission to preserve wetlands and natural habitats.
