Solid waste proposes fee increases

SANDPOINT — In a special solid waste meeting last Thursday, Bonner County commissioners and the Solid Waste Department discussed the increase of the solid waste fee schedule.
The Bonner County commissioners will hold a public hearing Monday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m. to vote on the proposed changes. All community members are welcome to attend.
If approved, the changes would go into effect Dec. 1, 2025.
According to the county website, the last time the solid waste fee schedule was updated was Sept. 1, 2024.
Residential proposed changes
• No sticker: $20 per yard from $5 minimum charge for first three yards per day
• Tires up to 22 inches without rim (no fee for first four tires): $5 each from $2 each
• Tires up to 22 inches with rim (no fee for first four tires): $10 each from $5 each
• Inert: $10 per yard, one yard minimum from free three yards per day
• Metal: $10 per yard, one yard minimum from free three yards per day
• Construction/demolition: $20 per yard, one yard minimum from three free yards per day
• Animal carcass less than 100 pounds: $10, an increase from no charge
• Animal carcass more than 100 pounds: $20, an increase from $10
• Televisions up to 32 inches: $15 each, an increase from $5
• Televisions over 32 inches: $30 each, an increase from $5
Commercial proposed changes
• Commercial waste: $20 per yard, one yard minimum, an increase from a half yard minimum
• Inert: $10 per yard, one yard minimum, an increase from a half yard minimum
• Metal: $10 per yard, one yard minimum, an increase from $10 per cubic yard with half yard minimum
• Wood/brush: $20 per yard, one yard minimum, an increase from a half yard minimum
• Construction/demolition: $20 per yard, one yard minimum, an increase from a half yard minimum
• Recycling/cardboard: $20 per yard, one yard minimum, an increase from a half-yard minimum
• Televisions up to 32 inches: $15 each, an increase from $10 each under 75 pounds
• Televisions over 32 inches: $30 each, an increase from $25 each over 75 pounds
• Small chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) products: $10 per unit, an increase from $30 each
• Animal carcass less than 100 pounds: $10, an increase from no charge
• Animal carcass more than 100 pounds: $20, an increase from $10
