Hayden billboard pays tribute to Charlie Kirk

HAYDEN — “God, family, country. In that order.”
That’s what a new billboard along U.S. 95 near Hayden Avenue reads next to a portrait of Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist who was shot and killed last week while speaking at a college in Utah.
The dates “1993-2025” are also included on the billboard’s design, as well as an American flag.
While the idea for a billboard came from Hayden resident Turner Sutton, support from the community made it a reality.
As of Thursday, over $3,000 has been raised on the GoFundMe page titled “A Billboard in Honor of Charlie Kirk.”
“The community wants to honor him and see him being honored,” Sutton said. “We all feel it in our hearts that we lost a friend, even though we never met him.”
Sutton added that he had followed Kirk through his podcast and speaking engagements over the past few years but did a “deep dive” into his content after his death.
“I’m not a Christian myself, but a lot of what he said spoke to me,” he said.
It cost $1,800 for the billboard to be run for a month, which Sutton fronted in order to get it live as soon as possible.
Since fundraising exceeded expectations, he plans to run the tribute to Kirk on additional billboards.
Sutton said the billboard is not intended to have a political message.
“It’s just a way to honor his life,” he said.
