The fall season for adult art classes is shaping up to be one of the most exciting ones so far.

With several of their “regular” instructors on hand, three new classes, taught by four new instructors, are on the schedule which, in its entirety, and in great detail, can be found at artinsandpoint.org

Does a class titled "Fantasy and SciFi Concepting" pique your interest? Roman Kenney will help you explore and develop the basic skills of a conceptual artist for the entertainment industry. With an emphasis on sketching, composition, and iterative design for games, film, publishing and artist enjoyment, this class is a not-to-be missed experience. This four-session class will be held Mondays in October. Registration deadline is Sept. 30.

Cheryl Klein will be teaching a three-hour class in mosaic art Friday, Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to noon. Register by Oct. 11 to create a 9-inch by 6-inch mosaic on slate using the direct application method.

If you’re interested in learning how to create a memory bear, the class taught by Michelle Sebern and Lorna Holt provides the perfect opportunity for you. This three-part class results in a handcrafted keepsake. Classes are held Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. They start on Oct. 22, and the registration deadline is Oct. 16.

Besides these classes that are new to the studio, our most popular classes are slated to return. From abstract painting, to Kimekomi, to drawing, to macrame, to weaving, there is something for everyone wishing to explore their creative talents, or if nothing else, to have fun.

Besides offering classes in the Joyce Dillon Studio, Pend Oreille Arts Council provides hands-on art education in local elementary schools, Art for Life classes at the Sandpoint Senior Center, and home-schooled teen art classes in their Expressions program.

POAC’s Performance Series will begin on Friday, Sept. 26, with Sean Bostrom performing in concert at the Panida at 7 p.m. Each performance has an outreach component bringing arts and culture to local students with POAC’s Ovations program.
