Patricia Maye Phillips died Aug. 25, 2025. She was born March 17, 1933, to Paul and Mattie Morton here in the Flathead Valley. She had five brothers and sisters, Bill, Dee, Don, Betty and Melva. She had five children, Diane, Cindy, Gigi, Mike and Mark.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Phillips.
If you knew mom, you know what she was like. If you didn’t know her, better luck next time.
Mom is free of the old body that failed her. Her memories, her sight and her mobility were stripped from her in her final years. Her favorite saying to me in her last decade was "it sucks to get old."
Mom was lucky to grow up in the Bigfork area when it was a beautiful rural place that presented endless options to enjoy the outdoors, and she did. Riding horses was as natural as squishing fresh cow manure between your toes. Having a cabin in Woods Bay and picking cherries in her sister's orchards was just what you did. As her mind slipped away, she would spend time at Holt, where the river met the lake, and her childhood memories lulled her to sleep.
To the large crowd of relatives and friends who loved her till the very end, thank you from her loving family. She never liked to complain and so we will not complain that she is free to soar.
After a lot of thought, we've decided to have a private memorial at a later date.
