In loving memory of Shirley Carol Lee Zauner.

It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Carol Lee Zauner, 86, of Kalispell. On Sept. 11, 2025, Shirley entered the loving arms of Jesus, surrounded by her loving family and the comforting presence of the Lord.

Born on June 29, 1939, in Kalispell, Shirley was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She lived a life grounded in faith, love and service to others.

On Nov. 22, 1958, Shirley married her high school sweetheart, Fred Zauner. Together, they built a beautiful life, living in Havre and Sidney before returning to Kalispell in 1967. There, they founded the family business, Zauner Boys Coast to Coast, which later became Zauner’s Ace Hardware and Ben Franklin Craft Store. Shirley also worked for Dr. Malcolm Burns and held other roles that reflected her dedication, compassion and unwavering love for those around her.

A faithful member of several churches and Bible Study Fellowship, Shirley believed deeply in the power of prayer. She lived each day with gratitude, humility and grace. Her faith was a guiding light and a source of strength to all who knew her.

Shirley is survived by her beloved husband, Fred Zauner; her children: Deborah Schoenberg (John), Shelly Tyree (Dick) and Jeff Zauner (Janet); her grandchildren, Nathan Bain (Emilia), Jared Bain, Michael Schoenberg, Courtney Tyree (Wendy), Savannah Hamland (Troy), Tiffany Tyree, Morgen Cano (Cole) and Coleman Zauner and her great-grandchildren, Persephone Bain, Penelope Bain, Mason Bain, Emma Tyree, Dawson Hamland, Brody Hamland, Sierra Hamland, Sarika Cano, Saige Cano and Piper Cano.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Lee; mother, Bertha Lee; brother, Kenneth Lee and great-grandson, Josh Tyree.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Shirley.
