The Libby boys soccer team led on two different occasions before perennial state power Columbia Falls took control late to grab a 4-2 win Saturday afternoon at J. Neils Memorial Park.

The Loggers took their first lead with about 16 minutes left when Jonathan Cano drilled a shot that grazed the cross bar and went in. The kick followed a foul by the Wildcats when Logger Zander Gassman was interfered with while trying to shoot.

The Wildcats tied the game with about six minutes left on a goal by Jackson Scholz and it went to the half, 1-1.

Midway through the second half, Cano’s second goal was a beauty as his long shot from the left side curled into the upper right corner of the net, just inches over the keeper’s finger tips.

The 2-1 lead didn’t last long as the Wildcats scored soon after on a goal by Jack Harris. The game-winning goal came on a rebound shot by Scholz and the fourth goal by Harris with seven minutes left was some late insurance.

Keeper JJ Fosgate made five saves for the Loggers as they were outshot 19-7.

In the girls game, undefeated Columbia Falls (5-0-1) scored six first-half goals on the way to a 7-0 win.
