Libby’s Farmer 10th in prestigious Mountain West Invite

Libby’s Capri Farmer had a special day at the prestigious Mountain West Invitational Saturday in Missoula.

The sophomore placed 10th with a time of 19:12.64 in a field of nearly 500 runners from across Montana, Idaho and Washington. Farmer's time is a new personal record.

According to head coach Brittany Katzer, 17 other runners earned either a personal or season record at the race.

Libby sophomore Alli Clemons was 152nd in 21:49.30. Junior Hailey Misner was 232nd in 22:49.94. Rylee Thompson was 426th in 26:18.04 and sophomore Lillian Bailey was 442nd in 27:10.97.

For Troy, senior Jaylee Meyers was 312nd in 23:51.28. Freshman Daisy Williams was 395th in 25:02.84 and senior Jenika Meyer was 455th in 28:02.92.

Billings Central Catholic freshman Addison Kegel was a dominant winner in 17:33.03, more than 24 1/2 seconds ahead of runner-up Lauren Bissen of Glacier.

Polson junior Morgan Delaney was fifth overall in 18:47.95.

Farmer’s 10th place finish helped the girls team to a 44th place team finish in a field of 67. Bozeman was first followed by Gallatin and Helena.

In the boys race, junior Cody Watson led Libby with a 67th place finish in 16:56.05. Junior Colter Anderson was 328th in 19:17.92, junior Sam Erickson was 339th in 19:24.82, sophomore Jake Rusdal was 354th in 19:29.55 and freshman Cody Katzer was 404th in 19:59.38. Sophomore Levi Nick was 470th in 20:56.89.

The Loggers were 49th as a team with 1407 points in the 79-team field.

Troy sophomore Kai Brownell was 317th in 19:10.71, senior Dmitrii Walenter was 382nd in 19:46.68 and junior Michael Gillespie was 569th in 23:32.75.

Mead, Idaho won the team championship with 110 points, one ahead of Bozeman, which had the overall winner in senior Miles Halvorsen, who finished in 15:17.20.

Libby and Troy will compete at Whitefish Tuesday and at Thompson Falls Saturday.
