I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. SANDPOINT — Under pressure, Logan Roos sunk one of the biggest birdies of his career.
After carding a 4-over-par 75, which tied with three other players, the Sandpoint High senior needed just two strokes to win a 4-man playoff on hole 16 to capture medalist honors at the Bulldog Invitational held Monday at The Idaho Club.
Junior Bode Eacret shot an 86 and seniors Micah Young and Tyler Weisz finished with 87's for the Bulldogs, which finished fourth out of six scoring teams with a total team gross of 335 — just one stroke ahead of Coeur d'Alene and one stroke behind Lakeland. Senior Everett Gilman fired in an 89 in the No. 5 spot.
For the girls, Grace Loutzenhiser carded a team-best 104 in what was one of the Lady Bulldogs' best performances of the season. Ella Mahlum finished with a 105, Hannah Majors a 107 and Aspen Little-Torrez a 113 for the Sandpoint girls, which finished fourth out of six scoring teams with a total team gross of 429 — 23 strokes ahead of Post Falls and 25 ahead of Moscow. Hailey Gove shot a 119 in the No. 5 spot.
Sandpoint heads to The Links Golf Club in Post Falls on Thursday for the Lakeland Invite.
