The Whitefish girls golf team continues to show excellence, taking first out of nine teams, and the boys second out of 13 at Hamilton Golf Club last week. It was a timely shape up as the teams prepare to return to the same course Friday to vie for state.
Last week’s Hamilton Invite marked the fourth straight tournament win for the girls. Dillon was 11 shots behind in second, and Frenchtown was third.
Karlee Brown’s individual wins continue to stack up – this time her dominant round of 78 was 14 shots better than second place. Caroline Owens was 10th, posting some of her best scores ever in the last couple of weeks. Close behind was Baylee Hyland and Ava Zignego.
On the boys side, Aiden Rickels has kept strong momentum, taking sixth.
Throughout the season, Colby Minton and Finn Hobart have consistently been in the top 20. Minton and Hobart, plus Mason ONeil, are expected to be anchor players going into the postseason.
Wyatt Scott, playing junior varsity, posted a competitive round of 78, and has continued to work hard and show improvement throughout the year, Coach Scott Minton said.
