Horsemen-Tigers game rescheduled for this week

The Plains Horsemen did not host the St. Regis Tigers in 8-Man football action as planned Friday, but both teams have plans on getting back on the field and playing this week.

Although coach Mike Tatum’s Horsemen were forced to cancel last week’s game due to a lack of available players, it is believed that Plains will have enough to give it a go for a game at Victor Saturday afternoon.

Now 3-1 in Western conference 8-Man play after picking up the forfeit win over the Horsemen, coach Jesse Allan and his Tigers will host the Mission Bulldogs in an important conference contest under the lights in St. Regis Friday night.

Tatum said that the Horsemen do think they have enough players for Saturday’s game in Victor. “Playing Victor looks more promising,” he said. “With some of the player timelines and when they could play.”

Allan expects a tough battle with Mission, which fell 60-36 at home to Superior last week. The Tigers defeated Superior in St. Regis back in August, but that game means little now.

“Superior and their staff always get their kids improving each week and I think they showed that last night,” he said Saturday after watching Superior play at Mission. “As any coach will tell you, sometimes you don't see what your weaknesses are until a team shows you. There’s a lot experience on the Mission sideline, we anticipate a great game here next Friday night.”
