PREP VOLLEYBALL: Post Falls recovers, downs Lakeland in four sets

RATHDRUM — The visiting Post Falls Trojans overcame a first-set loss to beat the Lakeland Hawks 20-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-18 on Tuesday night at Hawk Court. 

Senior Tiffany Foxx had nine kills and five blocks for Post Falls (6-4). Reese DeGraw-Tryall had eight kills, Claire Ziegler 18 assists, Lucy Carr 14 assists and two aces, Teresa Smith eight digs and four aces, Rylie Gump four blocks, Mia Carr eight digs, Zuri Blood two aces. 

“This was a great win tonight for us,” Post Falls coach Matt Barkley said. “Lakeland came out hitting the ball hard at us and they were digging everything we hit at them in the first set. We regrouped in the second set and took the momentum back and didn’t let go. Our middles and opposites started setting a solid block and our setters did a great job getting them the ball in transition. I’m really proud of their resilience and how they put the match away in the fourth set.” 

For Lakeland (3-5), Alyssa Ryckman had 11 kills and two aces, Raygen Dutton six kills and two blocks, Kindell Day 18 assists and two aces, Jaeli Hoffman 14 assists, Chloe Neff 19 digs. 

Next up for both teams is the Sheridan-Welch Crossover Classic on Friday and Saturday in Spokane. 

Timberlake d. 

Clark Fork 

SPIRIT LAKE — Addie Archer had eight kills, 13 digs and three blocks as the host Tigers swept the Wampus Cats 25-12, 25-13, 25-15 in nonleague play. 

Willow Mattson had 12 assists for Timberlake (6-7). Layla Webb had six blocks, Shae Jones five aces. 

“It was a shared effort in tonight’s win,” Timberlake coach Lisa Gardom said. “We took care of the ball well and we played with intention, which is something we have been working on. It was great to see it in action during a game.” 

For Clark Fork (6-5), Kiylah Anderson had 11 assists and six digs, Aurora Lane five kills and a block. 

Timberlake plays host to Orofino on Friday. 

Kellogg d. 

Grangeville  

GRANGEVILLE — Ella Yrjana had eight kills and four aces for the visiting Wildcats in a 25-20, 25-16, 25-9 Central Idaho League win over the Bulldogs. 

“Playing after that long drive is always so tough,” Kellogg coach Hollie Yrjana said. “We came out pretty error ridden in the first set, but refocused and calmed down to play our own game in the second two sets. We had some great serving runs from Paige Yrjana, Aleah Philp and Ella Yrjana.” 

Gretah Angle had six kills and four assists, Dani Henrikson six kills, Jordyn Stutzke eight digs and Paige Yrjana two blocks for Kellogg (10-0, 6-0 CIL), which competes in the Sheridan-Welch Crossover Classic on Friday and Saturday in Spokane. 

Grangeville is 1-7, 1-4. 

Lakeside d. 

Coeur du Christ 

PLUMMER — Senior Tylah Lambert had 20 assists, seven aces, nine digs and two kills as the host Knights beat the Saints 23-25, 25-11, 25-17, 25-23 in nonleague play at Ron Miller Court. 

Kimberly Pluff added 14 kills, seven digs and two aces for Lakeside (7-1). Rayna Schatz had six kills, six digs and two aces, Saydee Peone 11 digs, three kills and two aces, Izzy Kee three assists, Ambi Aldrich two kills, Cassidy Gorr two aces, Allisue Hendrickx and Laila Charley five digs each.  

“Another great aggressive game from my seniors,” Lakeside coach Devyn Moore said. “Kimmie played a great game, she dug the ball and ended with 14 kills. Her attacks are again aggressive and she’s putting the ball away where it needs to go. Tylah did a great job finding Pluff and hustling tonight. Her serving game was on point; she stayed serving for over 10 points in a row. Rayna read the floor well tonight, finding open spots. Allisue covered great and had some great digs.” 

For Coeur du Christ (4-4), Espi Klocko had 28 digs, Maddie Junkin 10 kills and 10 digs, Angelica Ross 15 digs. 

“It was a very scrappy game,” Coeur du Christ coach Natalie Kiefer said. “The ball just wouldn’t go down on either side and the plays were really long. Our number of digs reflects that. And Lakeside did the same. It was exciting and fun to watch, but we just couldn’t quite pull it off in the end.” 

On Thursday, Coeur du Christ plays at the Coeur d’Alene “C” team, and Lakeside is home vs. Mullan. 

Kootenai d. 

Mullan 

HARRISON FLATS — Senior Claire Cook had nine service points and the host Warriors notched their first victory of the season, beating the Tigers 25-20, 25-22, 23-25, 25-16 in North Star League play. 

Brooklyn Charles added five kills, Chloe Dorman three blocks for Kootenai (1-7, 1-3 NSL). 

“The girls had so much intensity in their play tonight,” Kootenai coach Elexus Moore-Rich said. “You could tell the girls really wanted it." 

Mullan (2-4, 1-2) plays at Lakeside on Thursday. 

Kootenai travels to Genesis Prep on Thursday.
