Tigers host three volleyball matches

The St. Regis Tigers played three home matches last week and coach Kianna Branett’s Tigers defeated Two Eagle River 25-8, 25-13, 25-12 Tuesday, fell to Charlo 25-16, 25-17, 25-13 Thursday and lost to Seeley-Swan 25-13, 23-25, 25-17, 25-15 Saturday.

Up this week for Barnett and her Tigers are matches at Superior Tuesday and with Drummond in St. Regis Thursday.

In the win over Two Eagle River last week Shelby Simkins was the big hitter for the Tigers, knocking down six of the team’s 19 kills in the match, coming up with eight of the 24 digs and hitting 10 of the 26 St. Regis aces. Daisy Sansom was good for 11 of the 17 assists the Tigers had in that match.

Against Charlo, Lilly Sansom and Jamie Cleveland hit three kills each to lead St. Regis, Shelby Simkins posted 15 digs, and Daisy Sansom put up nine assists and hit three service aces.

In the four-set match with Seeley-Swan, Mae Grosenbaugh smacked four kills to pace the Tigers, Lilly Sansom had 10 digs, Daisy Sansom eight assists and Khila Teeters and Zaylee Fortson two aces apiece.

From Coeur d‘Alene to Deer Park, the North softball team, including players from Thompson Falls, Noxon, Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry, travels well, and have continued tearing up the basepaths at tournaments since the high school season ended.
