SANDPOINT — For the Nov. 4 elections only, the community of Laclede has been approved as a designated mail ballot precinct due to its limited number of registered voters.

Presenting the request was Bonner County Clerk Michael Rosedale for the county’s elections department, who shared the transition of a mail ballot precinct can be approved under Idaho Code if the applicable precinct has 140 or fewer registered voters.

Laclede has 13 registered voters.

The transition was approved by the Idaho Secretary of State’s office before being unanimously approved by county commissioners.

As a result, all 13 registered voters in Laclede will receive a ballot by mail.

According to the resolution, the change will save taxpayer dollars by eliminating the need to train and staff the Laclede polling place from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. for the election.

The mail-ballot precinct will only be applicable for the Nov. 4 election.
