COEUR d’ALENE — Coeur d’Alene took control in the first set and didn’t give it back, sweeping the Lake City Timberwolves 25-19, 25-13, 25-9 in a 6A Inland Empire League match at Lake City High on Wednesday.

Senior Kaylee Paulson had 16 kills, senior Camryn Farrar had six kills for the Vikings, finishing with a .609 and .429 hitting percentage respectively.

“We were very aggressive behind the service line and our ball control was great,” said Coeur d’Alene coach Carly Curtis, whose team finished with 15 aces. “It allowed us to move our hitters around and find some holes. We were calm and it led to a lot of success. I was really proud of how we responded.”

Senior Gianna Callari had seven kills, eight digs and two blocks, junior Bridget Maiani seven digs and four aces and junior Hannah Shafer 22 assists for Coeur d’Alene (14-1, 2-1 6A IEL).

Junior Camryn Woodman had five kills, five digs and one block, junior Kate Moglia five kills, two blocks and 13 assists, sophomore Lexie Burns four kills and senior Sofia Peressini 11 digs for Lake City (5-10, 1-2).

Lake City beat Coeur d'Alene in five sets on Sept. 18 at Viking Court.

“We knew we poked the bear last week and expected them to come out hot,” Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg said. “I am pleased with how we kept our composure, but was hoping we’d have a bit more fight in us. We didn’t have the right tools at the right time tonight, but we’re hopeful to get another shot at them in districts.”

On Tuesday, Coeur d’Alene hosts Post Falls in the Volleyball 4 The Cure match and Lake City plays host to Lewiston.

POST FALLS — Junior midfielder Pietro Attolini scored on an assist from Elliot Engles for the Panthers in a nonleague win over the host Trojans at The Fields at Real Life.

“We struggled to finish tonight,” Coeur d’Alene Charter coach Craig Daigle said. “Give a ton of credit to (Post Falls goalkeeper Will) Gillies in keep for Post Falls. (Griffin) Dooley was all over the field stopping our attack as well. We talked at half about where we could attack them, and I was happy with what we did in the second half. Pietro slipped one past Gillies and we were able to sneak out a win.”

Coeur d’Alene Charter (8-0) faces Grangeville at The Fields at Real Life on Friday.

Post Falls (0-10) hosts Timberlake on Tuesday.

POST FALLS — The Panthers and Trojans played to a nonleague draw at The Fields at Real Life.

Post Falls senior Lily Bole scored in the fifth minute and Coeur d’Alene Charter senior Reagan Meine scored in the 60th minute.

“It was Post Falls senior night, so we knew they were going to play with some passion,” Coeur d’Alene Charter coach Stacy Smith said. “We struggled against them last year and have a lot of youth in some positions that we rely on heavily, so it could have been more difficult for us. Our youth and seniors stepped up their game, especially after getting scored on easily in the first five minutes of the game. We played with some grit and determination and our speed up top paid off with a great ball from Sophia (Peppin) to Reagan.”

Post Falls (0-8-2) hosts Timberlake on Tuesday.

Coeur d’Alene Charter (5-1-1) faces Grangeville at The Fields at Real Life on Friday.
