COLUMBIA BASIN — Spooky season is right around the corner to be followed with feasting and holiday cheer. Yes. Already. While you’re waiting though, there’s no reason to be bored with plenty of things going on during the last week of September and into October.  

Sept. 26  

Introduction to the Indigenous Art Form of Beading  

Local indigenous artist Amanda Keewatinawin will host a workshop on the indigenous art form of beading and how to create your own beaded fringe earrings. Hand-curated kits and instructions will be provided for each participant along with a brief history of indigenous beadwork. Ages 18 and older. 5:30-8 p.m. at the Moses Lake Public Library, 418 E. Sept. 27  

White Trail Grange Car Show  

Free fun for the whole family. Check out classic cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors. Grange youth will sell root beer floats and Italian sodas, and Tacos El Tapatio will serve up food. A heavy yard art tractor will be raffled off. Vehicle entries are $25 and the first 20 entries will receive a free T-shirt and meal ticket. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the White Trail Grange, 3392 Road 5 NW, Ephrata. Info: 509-237-0116.  

Bulb Your Enthusiasm!  

Want a garden that bursts into color next spring? The secret starts underground. This lighthearted, hands-on workshop teaches the simple art of planting bulbs that reward you with tulips, daffodils and other dazzling blooms year after year. Each attendee gets bulbs to plant and a 20% discount day of class towards more bulbs or bulb amendments. $50 per person; space is limited. 11 a.m. at Blue Rouge Garden & Nursery, 2114 W. UMANI Festival   

UMANI is a major community-wide collaboration between individuals and many of the largest cultural institutions in our area to celebrate our community’s Hispanic heritage. Free activities include access to a low rider car show, music, barbers, artists, creative workshops, crafts and games for families, resource booths, vendors, food trucks and lucha wrestling. Noon to 6 p.m. at Sinkiuse Square, 216 W. Third Ave., Moses Lake. Info: downtownmoseslake.org. 

Sept. 29  

Columbia Basin Hospital Bond Meeting 

Join officials with Columbia Basin Hospital for a meeting to discuss the bond package on the Nov. 4 ballot. Pumpkin Palooza Paint Night 

Visit the Country Deli at 245 Basin Street NW in Ephrata for a night of painting with Rustic Girl Painting. ’90s Flannel Fest 

Head to the Grant County Fairgrounds for a celebration of all things 90s grunge. Tribute bands celebrating a wide selection of talent will hit the stage, including 40 oz to Freedom (Sublime), Jar of Flies (Alice in Chains), head over Feet (Alanis Morisette), Nevermind (Nirvana), Fighting Foos (Foo Fighters), Rockville (REM), Linger (The Cranberries), Parabola (TOOL), Tragic Kingdom (No Doubt), Plush (Stone Temple Pilots) and 21 Guns (Green Day). WA Cutting Horse Fall Show  

Witness displays of precision and skill at the Washington Cutting Horse Show hosted by the Washington Cutting Horse Association. Professional-level horse riding will be on display. Visit the WCHA website at wchacutting.com for more information. Event hosted by the Grant County Fairgrounds.  

Oct. 18  

Youth Dynamics Fundraiser & Auction  

Offer support to a local nonprofit youth ministry that works to connect students with caring adults and faith. Proceeds from the annual fundraiser will help with leadership development and ministry programs. The event will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Grant County Fairgrounds 4-H building. Othello Fall Festival  

Join the Greater Othello Chamber of Commerce at Kiwanis Park in Othello for its annual Fall Festival from noon to 10 p.m. on a Saturday. The event will include a trunk or treat, contests, food and family activities. A variety of vendors will be on hand for a little fall shopping.  

Oct. 20 

Brewing Connections  

Join a supportive community at the Quincy Public Market comprised of parents raising special needs children. Enjoy a cup of coffee while talking through the challenges of parenting. Gathering runs 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. https://bit.ly/48zCovX  

Oct. 25 

Barrel racing fun  

Join the Columbia Basin Barrel Racing Club for the NFR Winter Classic 5D race hosted at the Grant County Fairgrounds. Local and regional competitors will sprint through the arena, weaving through barrels for cash prizes and glory. Oct. 31 

Join local businesses and residents in downtown Ephrata for a trick-or-treating adventure. The Ephrata Chamber of Commerce will ahve a haunted park at Rock Park in downtown and businesses will be open to welcome ghouls and goblins alike. Visit Eprhatachamber.org for more information.
