SANDPOINT — Bonner County commissioners have approved the appointment of five members to serve on the county’s zoning and planning commissions.
For the planning commission, county commissioners approved Dave Bowman, Brendan Mooney and Larry Madoski to serve three-year terms. For the zoning board, Michelle Johnson and Joe Mauk were appointed to serve three-year terms.
The appointments were voted on individually, a process requested by Commissioner Ron Korn during the Sept. 8 zoning and planning interview process.
Commissioners first voted on the three available planning commission seats.
Bowman was approved in a 2-1 vote, with commissioners Asia Williams and Brian Domke voting in favor and Korn opposed.
Mooney was approved unanimously by all three commissioners.
Madoski was approved unanimously in a 2-0 vote, with Williams and Domke voting in favor and Korn abstaining.
For the zoning board, three board seats were also available — two with three-year terms and one with a one-year term. Candidates considered were Michelle Johnson, Colton Boyles and Joe Mauk.
Johnson was approved in a 2-1 vote, Williams and Domke in favor and Korn opposed.
Mauk was approved in a 2-1, Williams and Domke in favor and Korn opposed.
Boyles’ appointment was denied in a 1-2 vote, Korn voting in favor and Williams and Domke opposed.
The one-year zoning commission seat remains vacant, and applications are now being accepted for the volunteer position.
