Gayle McEwen, 76

Gayle Gibson McEwen passed away in her sleep at home in Cocolalla, Idaho, on Sept. 18, 2025, after a lengthy and courageous battle with COPD and lung cancer. She was 76.
Gayle was the youngest of five children born into the family of Robert Gibson (aka Randall Grant) and Shirley (Kate) Gibson of Sand Springs, Mont.
Gayle was a hard worker and very smart and had a few careers in her lifetime, finally retiring from real estate appraising.
She loved to travel, laugh, play any board/card game, practical jokes, movies, gardening and most of all gabbing with her multitude of friends. She never met a stranger and we were all richer for it. The last few years she enjoyed the weekly card games with her friends, Bob and Kathi Moore. She played online Scrabble, had many Words with Friends and she Crushed ALL the Candy.
Gayle is survived by her dog, Guido; daughter Michelle (Brent) Stephens of Idaho; daughter-in-law Deann Stabio McEwen of Montana; Donna (Cameron (Kaiel and Brooke/Gabrielle/Ganessa)) of North Dakota; Jim (Abigail(Aidan/ Keera)) McEwen of North Dakota; Josh McEwen of Oklahoma; Kasandra (Stacy) Church of Minnesota, Leigh McKenzie (Brandon Michel) of North Daokta, Chelsea McKenzie (Austin Ackerman) of North Dakota, Lacey (Rachel) Stockie of Florida; Marion Gibson, Sheryl Gibson and Steven Barnes of Nevada, Eleanor (Tim) Myers of Oregon, Robert Barnes (Maralee Evans) of California; David Mayotte, Jessica Mayotte, Rebecca Collins of California; Julie (Butch) Raymond, Nick Hafla, Cindy (Kelly) Conley of Montana; Terry Pack, Kelly (Kristy) Pack of Maryland and Tristan Demers of Montana.
She was preceded in death by her son, Mason, husband Mac, Robert McEwen II, Lynn McKenzie and Diane McEwen; nephews Wayne and Todd Gibson; siblings Nevin Gibson, Rosemary Mayotte, Laurie Gibson and Sherry and Pete Pack.
Private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of cards and flowers please donate to your local animal shelter or the American Cancer Society.
