ST. MARIES — Senior Aleigha Jensen recorded a tied for season-high seven kills and added five aces and a block as the Lady Spartans swept the Lady Lumberjacks (25-8, 25-14, 25-9) for their eighth straight win Thursday night in a 3A Central Idaho League match held at St. Maries High.

Senior Jayda Storro added seven kills and a team-high six aces while sophomore McKinley Burgess-Duquette chipped in six kills and eight digs for Priest River, which went on a 17-3 run at one point in the first set and never trailed in the second and third sets.

Defensively, senior Toni Marinello posted a team-high 11 digs, senior Kenadie Kingery had a team-high two blocks, and freshman Hadley Sandau and junior Rylee Dixon each had one block for the Lady Spartans in what was a season sweep of St. Maries.

Priest River (11-1) will travel to Newport for their non-league finale Monday.

Lewiston 3, Sandpoint 1

SANDPOINT — Senior Belen Gonzales registered a team-high 13 kills and a team-high 16 digs as the Lady Bulldogs were defeated by the Lady Bengals (25-23, 25-18, 20-25, 25-16) in a 5A Inland Empire League match held Thursday night at Les Rogers Court.

Offensively, senior Gretta Beck served up a team-high four aces while freshman Averi Mire set up a team-high 17 assists for Sandpoint, which led 23-19 in the first set before Lewiston went on a 6-0 run.

The Lady Bulldogs used a 5-0 run with the score tied 11-11 in the third set, eventually capturing their lone set victory by a 5-point margin.

"As a whole, we struggled to play as disciplined as we can and that was reflected in the result of the match," Sandpoint High head coach Piper Wahlin said. "We were a bit slow to adjust to what Lewiston was doing and didn't play our normally fast tempo offense. I'm confident we'll make those changes and continue to improve as we head into our tournament this weekend."

Senior Hazel Pierce contributed a team-high three blocks for Sandpoint (3-6), which will compete at the Sheridan-Welch Crossover Classic tournament today at multiple Greater Spokane Area high schools.

Wallace 3, Clark Fork 1

CLARK FORK — Freshman Kiylah Anderson recorded a team-high 32 assists, her fourth 30-plus assist game of the season, and added a season-high 17 digs and tied for season-high four kills as the Lady Cats fell in four sets to the Lady Miners (26-24, 22-25, 26-24, 25-16) in a 2A Scenic Idaho Conference game held Thursday night at Clark Fork High.

Senior Aurora Lane posted 11 kills and a season-high 19 digs and went 30-for-33 on serve receive while junior Nora-Jean Hoy tallied a season-high 14 kills and a season-high three blocks in the back-and-forth contest.

"This was one of those matches that was so neck-and-neck that you look back on just a couple of points and think 'oh, if it had just gone a different way,'" Clark Fork High head coach Lyndsie Kiebert-Carey said. "That's good news for our girls — that it's just the little things at this point. It was really scrappy, long-rally, high-level volleyball, which was a lot of fun ... we just lost a bit of steam at an inopportune moment, but it's all going to just make us better."

Senior Piper Scarlett chipped in a team-high five aces, was 11-for-11 on serve receive, and had a season-high 14 digs, freshman Vanessa Rogier had five kills, eight digs and two aces, and sophomore Gracie Stevens had five digs for the Lady Cats, which trailed by as much as seven points before capturing the 25-22 set victory in the second.

Clark Fork only gave up four aces across the four sets played, a testament to their strong receive, one that Kiebert-Carey says is among the best she's seen in her now nine years of coaching.

"We were able to run a bit of quicker offense out of the middle, which was fun for us to see executed well in a match, so excited to see that," Kiebert-Carey said. "I cannot speak highly enough about our serve receive."

Clark Fork (6-6) travels to Coeur du Christ for a non-league matchup Monday.
