Bonners Ferry High School did not score in the second half. It did not matter. By the end of the first quarter, the Badgers were winning 35-0 and the game was all but over.

12 minutes later, the score was 49-7 and it became a half that head coach Danny Swift called the best he’s had as a coach.

In the second half, both teams were scoreless as the Bonners Ferry defense stopped Kellogg time and time again.

Keenan Maas, Bonners Ferry’s leading rusher this season, rushed just twice the entire game. He still ran for more than 140 yards rushing with one score. On the defensive side Maas scored two touchdowns to complete a stellar all-around night.

Maas now ranks No. 1 in the state with 1,162 rushing yards. Friday's game took him over 2,000 career rushing yards.

Kellogg had opportunities to score in the first half, but the Badgers consistently came out on top through a combination of turnovers and stops on fourth down. In the closing minutes of the second half, Kellogg took advantage of a fumble deep in Badgers territory to score their only touchdown of the game.

Conrad Hiatt was impressive, scoring two touchdowns and intercepting a pass. Risten Allred was a force defensively, intercepting a ball and recovering a fumble. QB Alex Stolley, efficient passing the ball, had two passing TD’s and one TD run.

Coach Swift spoke after the game about his defense's stellar performance.

"(It was) just a lovely atmosphere tonight. (I'm) really proud of our community and our kids representing well."

The win takes the Badgers to 4-2 on the year. Bonners Ferry will next be at home to face Moscow on October 10 at 7pm.
