COEUR d’ALENE — Once North Idaho College figured out its offense, that four-minute spurt in the second half was just enough to get the job done on Eisenwinter Field.

Freshman Caroline Rigby scored in the 50th minute, the first of three goals in just under four minutes for the Cardinals in a 3-0 Scenic West Athletic Conference win over the Colorado Northwestern Spartans of Rangely on Saturday.

“I don’t think we really showed up in the first half,” NIC coach Kellsi Parson said. “CNCC is very athletic and we had to figure out how to play to their speed. We really didn’t give ourselves a chance to score in the first half, but once we did in the second half, we continued to score.”

Freshman Molly McClennan and sophomore McKenzie White added goals for NIC (4-3-2, 4-1-1 SWAC), which hosts Pacific Northwest Christian (0-6, 0-6) of Kennewick, Wash., next Saturday.

Colorado Northwestern is 5-5, 3-4.

First half — none. Second half — 1, NIC, Caroline Rigby (Amy Smith), 50:46. 2, NIC, Molly McClennan (unassisted), 53:49. 3, NIC, McKenzie White (unassisted), 54:36.

Shots on goal — CNCC 7, NIC 10.

Saves — CNCC, Jasmine Hernandez 7; NIC, Serena Hand 7.

COEUR d’ALENE — Sophomore Isiah Ben scored on an assist from freshman Sebastiano Casini in the 18th minute for the Cardinals, who played to a Scenic West Athletic Conference draw with the Spartans of Rangely, Colo., at Eisenwinter Field.

“We’re just struggling along right now,” said NIC men’s soccer coach Brad Williams said. “We don’t have guys that can finish under pressure and we’ve got to be able to finish the ball. We had a lot of chances, but their keeper made a lot of saves. We’re just struggling to put it in the net.”

NIC (7-4-1, 3-3-1 SWAC) hosts Pacific Northwest Christian (0-7, 0-7) next Saturday.

Colorado Northwestern is 1-7-2, 1-5-1.
