Bonners Ferry 49, Kellogg 7

BONNERS FERRY — Keenan Maas only needed two carries for 143 rushing yards to surpass 2,000 career yards on the ground, scoring on a 67-yard run on the game's second play, as the Badgers scored 49 unanswered first-half points, 35 in the first quarter, to defeat the Wildcats for a 42-point non-league victory Friday night at Bonners Ferry High.

Maas, who ranks as No. 1 in the state across all classifications with 1,162 rushing yards, also produced a 74-yard pick six and returned a scoop-and-score fumble 25 yards for his 15th and 16th touchdowns of the season on the night, which served as the Badgers' homecoming.

Junior Alex Stolley also totaled three touchdowns — two passing and one rushing. Stolley scored on a 6-yard run to push the Bonners Ferry lead to 14-0 and hit senior Conrad Hiatt for a 25-yard score to extend the lead to 35 points. In the second quarter, he then connected with junior Cooper Higgins for a 27-yard touchdown as the Badgers went ahead 49-0.

Bonners Ferry used eight different running backs to compile 261 rushing yards while Stolley was 5-for-7 passing for 114 yards.

Defensively, Hiatt registered an interception, two pass breakups and a tied for season-high 12 tackles, five of which were solo, while junior Jake Solt recorded a season-high 10 tackles, six of which were solo. Solt, junior Taylor Dodd and senior Kai Aitken all forced quarterback hurries.

Junior Risten Allred also had a fumble recovery and hauled in an interception while senior Giovanni Faraoni defended a team-high three passes in the win.

Junior Easton Scarborough and sophomore Tyson Dickson both caught their first career varsity passes on the night for Bonners Ferry (4-2), which hosts Moscow for a 4A Intermountain League matchup Friday, Oct. 10.
