SANDPOINT — Local officials and community members recently celebrated the rebranding of Columbia Bank's local branch at a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.

Effective Sept. 1 the bank formally changed its name from Umpqua Bank to Columbia Bank. This change ensures brand clarity as the organization continues to expand beyond its legacy Pacific Northwest markets and into a broader eight-state footprint.

Columbia Bank now employs more than 6,000 associates, operates 350 branches, and manages approximately $70 billion in assets. This acquisition has accelerated the company’s Southern California strategy by more than a decade while strengthening its market presence in Arizona, northern California, Washington and Oregon.

At Columbia Bank, the mission remains focused on empowering businesses and families as they pursue their ambitions, bank officials said. With a dedicated team of professionals and a comprehensive suite of financial solutions, Columbia Bank provides specialized expertise and personalized support tailored to each client’s unique journey.

As one of the largest banks headquartered in the Pacific Northwest, Columbia Bank’s reputation is built on strong relationships, expert guidance, and resources designed to help customers grow their businesses, secure their futures, and thrive within their communities.

The transition from Umpqua to Columbia Bank was made to ensure brand clarity, align with its holding company, Columbia Banking System, and simplify the family of brands — which includes Columbia Wealth Management, Columbia Trust Company, Columbia Private Bank, and Columbia Wealth Advisors.

Greater Sandpoint Chamber officials welcomed Columbia Bank under its new name and look forward to its continued investment in the local economy and community.
