Wildcats football flipped its season on their homecoming night, rallying past Bigfork 27-13 behind a breakout performance from quarterback Banyan Johnston, who threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns.

In this episode, Luke Schmit interviews Columbia Falls head coach, Kelly Houle after their first win of the season. Houle explains how proud he is of the kids and being able to focus on one day at a time, to secure the victory on Friday night. He also speaks about how he chose to schedule tough opponents in their first three games, so that the team was ready for any challenge they would face down the road of a long season.

Banyan Johnston was the player of the game in this homecoming win. He explains how important this win was for the team, after coming off tough losses to start the season. He expresses how special the Wildcats team is at each position and highlights which players that he wanted to shout out for their performance. Johnston is a Junior in high school, but he reflects on the leadership that a Quarterback needs to have.

Jory Hill was the other interview for the Wildcats football team. Hill shined throughout the game with his impressive performance as wide receiver. Hill scored a touchdown that broke the tie against the Vikings by running over 40 yards to the endzone after catching a screen pass and juking and jiving his way to score. Hill talks about this play in the interview and gives praise to his teammates for making the game come easy to him with stellar blocking and coaching.

This win felt like weight off the back for the Wildcat’s football team, and you can see it in their emotional interviews after the game. Going forward this team knows what it takes to secure a victory against a tough time like the Vikings.
