HAYDEN LAKE — Coeur d’Alene sophomore Ella Wilson shot a school-record 68, 2 under par, and the Viking girls carded a school-record 301 in winning the Susan Mitchell Memorial Tournament on Monday at Hayden Lake Country Club.

Wilson beat the previous record of 69, set in August by freshman Emily Stillert at RedHawk Golf Course in Nampa.

The Viking bettered the previous team low of 306, set at The Highlands in August.

Coeur d’Alene’s No. 2 girls team finished second out of eight teams, shooting 367.

“The ladies were awesome today as we looked to stay sharp as we head into the district tournament tomorrow at Avondale,” Coeur d’Alene girls coach Jeff Lake said. “We are playing some pretty good golf right now, and we are super excited for postseason play to start up."

Coeur d’Alene’s boys, led by sophomore medalist Hunter Paquin with a 70, won with a 302, 13 strokes ahead of Lake City.

"The Viking lineup was at full strength today,” Coeur d’Alene boys coach Chase Bennett said. “302 was a solid number today, with

Lightning-fast greens. Proud of the way they reacted to an always difficult but well-manicured golf course. Looking forward to seeing how the team will reacts to the pressure of the 6A district championships tomorrow.”

The 6A District 1 tournament is today at noon at Avondale Golf Club in Hayden Lake.

The 5A Region 1 tournament is Friday at the University of Idaho Golf Course in Moscow.

“Holy swings from Kimmie Pluff, and her passing again was on point,” Lakeside coach Devyn Moore said. “Tylah runs our offense well and found Pluff everywhere tonight. Kimmie also found Tylah so she could attack the ball; it was fun to watch them both aggressively find holes. Saydee and Rayna both passed great tonight, covering and did a great job on the net as well."

Lakeside plays host to Genesis Prep tonight in a Scenic Idaho Conference match.

Coeur du Christ d.

Clark Fork

COEUR d’ALENE — The 1A Saints improved to 2-4 against 2A opponents with a 25-20, 29-27, 21-25, 28-26 triumph over the visiting Wampus Cats at Holy Family Catholic School.

Senior Maddie Junkin had 10 kills and 11 digs for Coeur du Christ (6-4). Angelica Ross had nine kills and 30 digs, Espi Klocko 26 digs, Therese Junkin five blocks for the Saints, who were swept in Clark Fork in early September.

“It was a really exciting game,” Coeur du Christ coach Natalie Kiefer said. “It was a lot of extra points again, which taught us to really dig deep and play all the way to the end. I am very happy with how our defense did in just keeping the ball up and really hustling, no matter where it led them off the court. We also served a lot better tonight than we have in the last few matches, and that helps a lot.”

Coeur du Christ travels to Wallace on Thursday.
