Students from the Plains School District once again proved they know how to show the community’s 55-and-older crowd a great time.
This past Thursday, the National Honor Society, SkillsUSA and Student Council hosted the fourth annual “Forever Young Ball,” an event that brings local seniors together for an afternoon of dancing, refreshments and socializing. The gathering also offers attendees a chance to dress up and enjoy a festive outing.
The idea for the event was first envisioned by Plains School Superintendent Dr. Kathleen Walsh, who was in attendance again this year.
Nineteen seniors participated, many from the Plains Senior Center and the long-term care facility at Clark Fork Valley Hospital.
Taking top honors in the age category was Lila Riffle, 97.
Food for the event was prepared by the school’s Family and Consumer Science class and included a variety of snacks. Students also transformed the gymnasium into a classic ballroom, complete with decorations that helped create an elegant atmosphere.
Activities director Jasmine Watts, from the long-term care facility summed up the afternoon simply: “They had a blast. They loved visiting with the high school students, getting dressed up and getting out.”
