Numbers up, Blue Hawk track and field takes flight

Thompson Falls track and field coach Trenna Ferris says her track and field teams have good numbers and that spirits are high for the Blue Hawks as the season begins in earnest this week.
Thompson Falls is scheduled to compete in a meet at Ronan Thursday to begin season action. Ferris says she has an outstanding turnout of 35 student/athletes, including 26 boys and nine girls.
Weston Block, Brylon VanElswyk, Addy Deal and Lexi Franck return to lead the Hawks with State B meet experience. Deal is in fact, the defending State B champion in the javelin, as the Hawk junior won the title with a throw of 125 feet, 10 inches at the state meet last spring.
Ferris said she is seeing good things from all of her athletes and looks forward to the 2026 season. “We have a very enthusiastic team,” she offered. “We are ready to get to work and learn.”
Helping Ferris greatly in that process will be her assistant coaches Amy Gilbert, Jake Susic, Scott Gilbert, Brionna Jensen, Nate Block and Bill McGuire. Ferris said long-time distance coach Sarah Naegeli has stepped down and expressed her gratitude, both towards her and to the assistants stepping in to fill the void created by Naegeli’s absence.
Colton Arnold, Kaleb Vanek and Emily Gravning are this year’s senior Hawks, and Everett Brotherton, Wyatt Brotherton, Teagan Dorscher, Chase Helvey, Ethan Misrahi Loegerot, Nataniel Palacios, Gage Spangler, Brylon VanElswyk, Dean Williams, Jakobe Wood, Aubrey Baxter, Madisun Rassmussen and Deal are the returning juniors.
Brogan Anderson, Carson Kenney, Evan Lofthus, Kolter Marjerrison, Leon Nelson, Aubree Cribbs, Brooke Flemmer, Kandice Smith, Franch and Block are the sophomores out for Thompson Falls track and field and Nathan Baxter, Easton Deal, Easton Helvey, Alex Newman, Toby Susic and Matea Keefe are the freshman Blue Hawk thinclads.
