Local voices of science and conservation will speak on northwest Montana’s flora, fauna, and environment at Whitefish Lake Institute’s Science Quencher on April 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Ramsey Room at The Lodge at Whitefish Lake. This event is free and open to the public.

The Science Quencher is a fun local gathering that explores intriguing topics; the presenters are passionate about their work and love sharing with the audience. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres served from 5 p.m. to 5:30 pm will be followed by two 10-15 minute “lightning round” talks and a short film showing, with question /discussion periods after each segment. Come learn something new and join the conversation.

Dr. Jared Grummer of Flathead Lake Biological Station will share research on the hybridization of Westslope cutthroat-rainbow trout in the Swan River; Dawn LaFleur of Glacier National Park will speak to whitebark pine restoration efforts in Glacier, and Chris Peterson of Hungry Horse News will present his short film “Winter Song” — a year-in-the-life documentary of a fabulous short river in northwest Montana.
