Plains thinclads begin season at Whitefish meet
JOHN HAMILTON | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 1 month, 2 weeks AGO
Plains track and field teams are all revved up and ready to run, and throw, and jump. The Horsemen and Trotters will get their first chances at doing just that at the Whitefish ARM meet Friday.
Coach Jesse Jermyn says he has a lot of quality athletes on the track and in the field and expects his teams to be competing for trophies when the District 7B, Western B and State B meets come rolling along later this spring.
Armed with an all-star distance running crew featuring State B cross country champions John Owen Jermyn and Marina Tulloch and fellow All-State B harrier Cord Greer, to name only a few of the fleet of feet, coach Jermyn has a right to assume his teams could score a lot of points in the middle distance and distance runs.
Bolstered by a strong fleet of throwers, including Hadyn Rice who just missed placing in the State B javelin, he also could be led to believe he could also harvest points in the throwing events.
“We have been looking pretty strong in practice,” coach Jermyn said. “We have good numbers overall. The kids are working hard, we look forward to getting after it.
Savanah Costner, Kalli Tuma, Katelyn Subatch, Asher Semour and Max Baxter are the Plains track and field seniors and Tulloch, Aubree Butcher, Ashley Ferlan, Jack Cockrell, Matthew Thurston and Cooper Meredith the Trotter and Horsemen juniors.
Greer, Rice, Owen Jermyn, Annika Ercanback, Jayden Cook, Tristan Allen, Riley Greene, Eddie Siebert, Benjamin Carter and Wyatt Miller are the sophomores, and Reese Meredith, Kiara Brown, Kylar Bannout, Miranda Dawson, Kylie Silva, Simeon Costner and Jackson Revier the freshmen Plains track and field athletes.
