MILK PRODUCERS GATHER FOR FORUM

Some 50 area dairymen and their wives gathered at Sandpoint’s Edgewater Lodge last week for a dairy forum sponsored by the U of I College of Agriculture. Squeezing a two-day program into a scant six hours to accommodate dairy farmers, who could ill-afford to take even that much time away from a demanding business, professors lectured on subjects ranging from mastitis to dairy reproduction. Ray Davis, Bonner County Extension Agent, said Bonner County’s 27 dairymen help generate a healthy economy. Bonner County leads both Kootenai and Boundary counties in milk production.

April 2, 1951 – FRIGID REFRIGERATION SHOW

The frigid weather was not especially conducive to thoughts of refrigeration when S.M. Cramer and Sons put on their two-week Coolerator refrigeration show in their show rooms adjoining their Fifth Avenue Texaco service station, but they also displayed electric ranges, water heaters and bathroom sets. The S.M. Cramer and Sons name will cover the firm’s new business venture when they officially open their Texaco service station. Although the official opening is April 15, the station has been serving the public since Mar. 12. Working with Mr. Cramer are his sons, Kenneth and Sidney, and Bill Weizelman. Operating hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

SUPPLIES CONCRETE AT CABINET GORGE

The Bargain Supply is presently employed in delivering about 400 yards of pre-mix concrete to the WWP dam site at Cabinet Gorge. The company has set up a plant at Clark Fork where they have a warehouse for cement, three conveyors to unload the sand and gravel from railroad cars, space for stockpiling the washed sand and gravel, and two mixer trucks. Bargain Supply’s pre-mix plant is also furnishing concrete for the John Thomas housing contract job near the dam, involving footing for three temporary residences and foundation basements for 40 permanent homes and one large guest house.
