IDAHO FOOTBALL: Dom Anderson named Vandals' pass game coordinator, defensive backs coach

MOSCOW — Head coach Thomas Ford Jr. announced the hiring of Dom Anderson as the new pass game coordinator and defensive backs coach for Idaho football.

"We are incredibly excited to welcome Dom Anderson to our staff as our pass game coordinator/defensive backs coach," coach Ford stated. "Coach Anderson is a veteran guy with coordinator experience that excels in teaching DB technique. He is very detailed as a teacher, will relate to our players, and will bring a lot to the table in terms of game planning and in-game adjustments."

Anderson arrives on the Palouse after serving as the defensive backs coach at Missouri Western State during the 2025 season.

Prior to joining the Griffins, Anderson was the defensive coordinator for four seasons at NCAA Division II Fayetteville State University, where he helped lead the Broncos to back-to-back conference titles and built one of the most dominant defenses in the country. During their championship-winning 2022 campaign, FSU's defense was one of the top-10 in the nation, only giving up 17 points a game, with the Broncos' passing defense allowing just 131 yards per contest, the second-lowest total among DII teams, helping the team to a 9-2 record. Anderson helped develop cornerback Joshua Williams during his time in Fayetteville, who in 2022 became the first NFL Draft pick from the school in nearly 50 years.

While at Fayetteville State, Anderson was selected for the NFL Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship which allowed him to work closely with the Chicago Bears and learn from Matt Eberflus' coaching staff during their 2022 and 2023 mini and training camps.

The 2005 graduate of Wake Forest University has worked on staffs at all levels of the football ladder, gaining experience as a graduate assistant for the Demon Deacons, serving as head coach at South Plantation High School in Florida, coaching defensive backs at St. Francis College, and Illinois State, and was defensive coordinator at the University of Pikeville.

Anderson played on both sides of the ball at Wake Forest, signing as a running back out of high school, before playing at defensive back in eight games his senior year.
