Ireland Grady– Participant No. 9
Beta Sigma Phi is happy to sponsor Ireland Grady. Ireland is the daughter of Ansen and Lindsey Grady.
After graduation, Ireland would like to attend the University of Idaho and pursue a career in travel nursing. Extracurricular activities she enjoys include volleyball and track and field. She is interested in modern personality Malala Yousafzai and historical personality Florence Griffith Joyner.
For her talent, Ireland will be performing a motivational monologue.
When asked what makes Ireland most proud of her generation, she states, “Its diversity. I love how everyone has their own niche and individual interests.”
Malia Murdock – Participant No. 10
The members of Veterans of Foreign Wars are delighted to sponsor Malia Murdock.
Malia is the daughter of Munro and Rachel Murdock. She has one sister, Maile, and one brother, Mason.
After high school, Malia would like to attend the University of Utah to pursue optometry. She stays active with snowboarding and spending time with family and friends. Malia is interested in modern personality Malala and historical personality Anne Frank.
For her talent, Malia will be performing a Tahitian dance.
When asked what makes Malia least proud of her generation, she states, “I am not proud of how divided my generation can be. Many people don’t want to associate with people who have different opinions from them.”
Kendall Thorne – Participant No. 11
Chapter A.P. P.E.O. is pleased to sponsor Kendall Thorne.
Kendall is the daughter of Michael and Bobbie Cossairt. She has one sister, Rylee, and one brother Logan. After graduation, Kendall would like to attend the Paul Mitchell School and pursue a career in cosmetology.
Kendall enjoys volleyball and track. She is interested in modern personality Dylan O’Brien and historical personality Amelia Earhart.
For her talent, Kendall will be showcasing a vocal performance.
When asked what makes Kendall most proud of her generation, she states, “We can be open-minded in all aspects.”
Nolie Hiatt – Participant No. 12
The Moyie Shrine Club is honored to sponsor DeNoalious (Nolie) Hiatt.
Nolie is the daughter of Andrew and Cassie Hiatt. She has three brothers, Conrad, Bennett, and Dieter. After high school, Nolie plans to attend Brigham Young University and pursue a career in pediatric nursing. Extracurricular activities she enjoys include soccer, basketball, golf, running, playing violin and crafting.
She is interested in modern personality Alex Morgan and historical personality Jane Austen. For her talent, Nolie will be showcasing a violin performance.
When asked what makes Nolie least proud of her generation, she states, “I am least proud of how social media is becoming so heavily relied upon and is now spreading negativity and comparison.”
The Bonners Ferry Distinguished Young Women Scholarship program is funded entirely through donations and support from local businesses and community members. Last year, the program awarded more than $13,000 in scholarships to local participants. This year’s Bonners Ferry Distinguished Young Women program will be held on April 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Becker Auditorium. Tickets go on sale Monday, April 13, at Mountain Mike’s Health Food Store. Tickets are $15, with proceeds supporting the scholarship fund. Seats are reserved, and early purchase is encouraged.
