Trudell “Trudy” Ann Lane Mendenhall passed away March 25, 2026. She was born October 11, 1934, in Gurley, Nebraska, to Roy and Ann Lane. In 1943, her family moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho, where she was raised and graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1952.

Trudy cherished her high school years, where she was a cheerleader and majorette, worked on the school newspaper, and enthusiastically attended sporting events and dances with her many friends.

On October 16, 1954, she married Kenneth Mendenhall. Together they made their home in Bonners Ferry, where they raised their three children: daughter Lisa and sons Kevin and Cory. Trudy treasured her role as a wife, mother, and homemaker. Summers were spent camping, boating, fishing, and water skiing with family and friends on the Pend Oreille River — times she held especially dear.

Trudy and Ken were deeply involved in their community and were founders of Smokey Acres, also known as the Bonners Ferry Boat Club. Kenneth “Kenny” Mendenhall passed away in 1981.

In 1985, Trudy met Robert “Bobby” Moore and moved to Sandpoint. They shared 25 wonderful years together, surrounded by family and friends, until his passing in 2010. They enjoyed wintering in Palm Springs, California, where they formed many lasting friendships.

Trudy was a devoted member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 55 for 60 years and served as Past Commodore and Secretary-Treasurer of the Bonners Ferry Boat Club. She was also a lifetime member of Job’s Daughters and a charter member of Beta Sigma Phi in Bonners Ferry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Mendenhall; her companion of 25 years, Robert “Bobby” Moore; her parents, Roy and Ann Lane; her four sisters, Clorine Baney, Lavern Lane, Glenda Sylvester, and Gwen Esler; and her brother, Jerry Lane.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Mendenhall (Scott Barksdale); her sons, Kevin (Julie) Mendenhall and Cory (Brooke) Mendenhall; five grandchildren, Kendra and Jon Barksdale, Cheyenne, Jack and Ben Mendenhall. She is also survived by her sister, Vicky Centers; her brothers, Dallas and Adrian Lane; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who offered help, care, and visits during her illness. A special thank you goes to her dear friend and neighbor, Judi Conlan, whose daily support made it possible for Trudy to remain in her home.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post No. 55 or the Sandpoint Elks Lodge.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
