Weight limits remain on many county roads

SANDPOINT — Weight limits are in force on most of the county's roads as spring breakup conditions continue, Bonner County Road & Bridge officials said.

Under weight‑limit restrictions, no early morning hauling is allowed on any Bonner County‑maintained road posted with such restrictions. A green flag indicates weight restrictions are imminent; a red flag or no flag indicates weight restrictions are in effect.

• District 1 (south of the Long Bridge) — In District 1, weight restrictions remain in force on multiple roads, including Trails End, Hoo Doo Mountain, Curtis Creek, Whittum, Sunset, Elks, Hillside, Willford, Southside School, Talache (south of the boat launch), Martingale, North Blanchard Cutoff, Sunnyside (from the narrows south), Sunshine Mine, Hanna, Three Mile Cutoff, Glengary Bay, Martin Bay, Eureka, Ockert, Culligan, North Riley Creek, Comstock Bay, Comeback Bay, Bartoo Bay, Foley (beginning at posted sign), Garrett and McDonald Creek roads.

Restrictions also remain in place on Birch Haven, Sweatery and Hanford drives, as well as Bella Circle, Elizabeth Lane and Whitetail Trail.

• District 2 (Priest River/Priest Lake) — In District 2, weight‑limit restrictions have been lifted on Cavanaugh Bay Road, Eastshore Road to Indian Creek Park Road, Gleason McAbee Road, Outlet Bay Road, Carr Creek Road, Berry Lane, Smith Creek Road, Wrenco Loop, Wrencoe Hills Road, Merritt Creek Road, Baldy Mountain Road, Peninsula Loop Road, Perron Road, Shannon Lane, Westshore Drive, Highland Drive, Lone Pine Road, Dufort Road, Ranch Club Road, Westmond Road, Sweetwater Lane, Bayshore Road, Camp Bay Road, Spirit Lake Cutoff Road, Blacktail Road, Big Sky Drive, Poledena Lane, Sagle Road, Meadowood Road, Monarch Road, Highland Flats Road, Remi Road, Fox Creek Road, Y‑Not Road, Bachelder Road, Antler Road, Echo Glen Road, Maywood Road, Tingelstad Road, Sourdough Road, and LeClerc Road South.

Restrictions remain in place on East Shoreline Drive, Hope Peninsula Road, Boyer Road, Cedar Creek Road, portions of North Riley Creek Road and Blanchard Cutoff Road; on Shannon and Sacheen lanes; and Alvord and Sacheen drives, as well as Hoodoo Loop Road.

• District 3 (Sandpoint/Clark Fork) — In District 3, restrictions remain in place on Upper Gold Creek Road and Blue Ridge Road. Baldy Mountain Road, from the train tracks to the end of pavement, is exempt, as is Upper Gold Creek Road from Gold Creek Road to Rapid Lightning Road and all roads north of the Upper Gold Creek intersection.

Per county ordinance, it is the responsibility of the hauler to contact the Bonner County Road & Bridge Department to determine whether these restrictions are in place. The restrictions will remain in effect until changed, at which time updates will be posted.
