A community exhibit that celebrates the healing power of art and the strength of those who live in North Idaho will return April 16 to the Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center.

In its fifth year, "Art Uplifts" honors the memory of beloved late local musician and artist Jimmy Magnuson while providing an outlet and connection space for artists of all mediums and levels. Their creations are part of a journey of hope, healing and courage.

Art has the power to uplift and help navigate life’s challenges: recovery, grief, loss, diagnosis and more. "No matter the struggle, situation or journey, art can uplift us" is the motto of "Art Uplifts," which is the JACC's most popular show. Works from more than 50 artists were exhibited at the 2025 event.

Anyone who has benefitted from the power of creative expression is eligible to enter. Each artist may submit up to two pieces. It is free to participate.

"Art Uplifts" will run through May 16. The opening reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. April 16. The event is free and open to all ages. Refreshments will be served.

Submissions will be accepted through April 10. To submit works, call the JACC at 208-457-8950 or go to form.jotform.com/260478118862161 to enter online.

The JACC is at 405 N. William St., Post Falls.

Jimmy Magnuson takes a break from preparing for his first solo art show in December 2018. The legacy of the artistic and dynamic Magnuson, who died in May 2021 at age 36, will be celebrated along with the healing power of art during the fifth annual "Art Uplifts" at the JACC. The show opens April 16 and runs through May 16. Deadline to submit works is April 10.
