Egg-citing activities this Easter weekend

Easter weekend has begun!

Here are some free holiday activities and events happening around Kootenai and Shoshone counties.

TODAY

• Eggstravaganza | 4:30 p.m., True North Church, 10583 N. Government Way, Hayden. Egg hunt, center activities, prizes and games. All are welcome.

SATURDAY

• Spring Festival and Easter Egg Hunt | 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., New Leaf Nursery-Hayden, 12655 N. Government Way, Hayden. Easter egg hunts start at 10 a.m. Local artisans, food vendors, kids' crafts, the Easter Bunny, spring plants, home and garden décor, games and a petting zoo provided by 4-H.

• Community Easter Egg Hunt | 10-11:15 a.m., Majestic Park, 5535 W. Majestic Ave., Rathdrum. Sponsored by Rathdrum Parks and Recreation, American Legion Post 154 and Northwest Guardian Riders. For all kids 12 and younger. Hunts have different start times depending on age. Bring baskets or sacks to collect eggs. Open to all. Parking is limited. Info: rathdrum.gov or 208-687-2399

• Easter Egg Hunt | 10 a.m., Worley City Park, 30000 S. Third St., Worley. Annual event presented by Worley Fire Protection District. Family fun and age group egg hunts.

• Fifth annual Community Easter Block Party | 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Stardust Motel, 410 Pine St., Wallace. Easter eggs (3,500) to be found by ages 0-2 at 11:15 a.m., ages 3-5 at noon, ages 6-9 at 12:45 p.m. and ages 10-12 at 1:30 p.m. Photos w/the Easter Bunny, bounce house, petting zoo, game zone, prizes and live music. Glow-in-the-dark egg hunting immediately following age group hunts in the Prayer Station. Free meal for all attendees provided by the Brooks Hotel. Donations of non-perishable food items for the Wallace Food Bank are welcome.

• Easter Egg Hunt | 10:30 a.m., Bayview Community Center, 20298 E. Perimeter Road, Bayview. Age divisions for egg hunt: 1-2 years, 3-4 years, 5-6 years, 7-8 years and 9 and older. Five prize eggs. Hosted by the Bayview Chamber of Commerce with assistance from the Timberlake Fire Protection District and a local sheriff deputy.

• Annual Easter Egg Parade and Egg Hunt | 11 a.m., various locations in Pinehurst. Parade registration begins at 10:30 a.m. in the park next to Tall Pine. Parade at 11 a.m. Participants in wagons, with decorated bikes, etc., will walk to Pinehurst-Kingston Lions Club, 106 Church St., Pinehurst, for photos with the Easter Bunny. Ribbons awarded for creativity. Hot dog lunch is $1 at the Lions Club. Egg hunt at 1 p.m. at Real Life Ministries, 708 N. Division St.

• Easter Egg Hunt | 11 a.m., Museum of North Idaho, 720 E. Young Ave., Coeur d'Alene. Families and children ages 12 and younger can bring baskets and search for colorful eggs with treats.

• Mica Flats Easter Egg Hunt | 11 a.m. to noon, Mica Flats Grange Hall, 7465 W. Kidd Island Road, Coeur d'Alene. Staggered egg hunts for the kids, pictures with the Easter Bunny and prizes for eggs containing golden tickets! Bring your own Easter baskets. Multiple age-specific egg hunts filled with candy and toys: 11-11:10 a.m., toddler; 11:15-11:25 a.m., 3-4 years; 11:30-11:40 a.m., 5-8 years; 11:45-11:55 a.m., 9-13 years. Egg hunts will occur inside the grange if the weather is bad.

• Easter Egg Hunt | 11:30 a.m., Harrison City Park, 111 Harrison Rd, Harrison. All ages welcome to bring baskets and find candy and eggs hidden in the park. Candy donations can be dropped off at the Harrison Elementary School office, 13030 E. O'Gara Road.

• Easter Festivities | 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Real Life Ministries - North Campus, 30447 N. Roughstock Road, Athol. Candy dash at 12:30 p.m. for 0-5 years, at 1 p.m. for K-5. Bounce houses (weather permitting), crafts, popcorn, face painting, complimentary cocoa and coffee. Easter services at 2, 4 and 6 p.m. Saturday and at 8, 9:45 and 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

• Easter Egg Extravaganza | 1-2:30 p.m., Q'emiln Park, 12201 W. Parkway Drive, Post Falls. Prizes, Easter Bunny photos. Held rain or shine. Bring your own baskets for the egg hunt. Times: 1-1:10 p.m., toddlers; 1:15-1:25 p.m., 3-4 years; 1:30-1:40 p.m., 5-7 years; 1:45-1:55 p.m., 8-11 years; 2-2:10 p.m., special and mobility needs. Sponsored by Post Falls Park and Rec.

• The Great Egg Sniffari | 2-3 p.m., Companions Animal Center lawn, 10275 N. Atlas Road, Hayden. Bring your dog to sniff out Easter eggs and win prizes! Leashed dogs only. Check-in begins at 1:30 p.m. Any donation counts for registration. Coffee truck onsite.

• Egg Hunt | 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., Real Life Post Falls Campus, 1860 N. Cecil Road, Post Falls. Traditional egg hunt at 3:30 p.m. for 0-fifth grade with a special needs area. Flashlight egg hunt at 8 p.m. for grades K-5. All are welcome. Saturday services at 4 and 6 p.m. Sunday services 8 a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. 

EASTER SUNDAY

• Community Easter Egg Hunt | 10:30-11 a.m., the River Church, 1687 E. Horsehaven Ave., Post Falls. Prizes and 10,000 eggs to search for in the field next to the church. All community kids invited. Church services follow at 11 a.m.
