HAZEL: Response to endorsement

I am writing in response to the recent letter supporting Christa Hazel for District 4, Seat B, Idaho Legislature. Election Day is May 19.

There is no question Christa Hazel has been involved in politics for a long time. But voters deserve the full record, not just a selective biography. In 2020, Hazel publicly left the Republican Party and was featured as part of a CDA Press piece on “Idaho Women for Biden.” In that article, she said the Biden campaign “energizes” her and praised Kamala Harris as one of the most qualified vice presidential candidates in the country. Before that, Hazel was a prominent voice supporting the election of Democrat Congressman Walt Minnick.

That is not ancient history, and it is not a minor footnote. It is a matter of public record. Whatever Hazel may be saying now, Republican voters have every right to ask why someone who publicly walked away from the party and aligned herself with Joe Biden is now asking for their trust in a Republican primary.

By contrast, State Rep. Elaine Price has provided steady, consistent representation for North Idaho. Elaine Price has taken clear positions, followed through on the issues voters care about, and built a record that reflects the values of District 4.

This election is about trust, consistency, and who will reliably represent District 4 moving forward. Voters should look carefully at the record.
