I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | April 3, 2026 1:00 AM

OREM, Utah — 2006 Bonners Ferry High graduate Adam Hall recently finished out his second year as head coach of Utah Valley University wrestling team by sending five athletes to the 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championships — tied for the second-most NCAA qualifiers in program history — held March 19 through 21 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

"I'm proud of our overall growth this season," second-year head coach Hall said in a news release by the Utah Valley Sports Information Department. "Although we did not accomplish our goal of getting onto the podium, I'm grateful for Haiden (Drury), David (Evans), and Jack (Forbes) for how much they put into our program. Caleb (Uhlenhopp) and Kael (Bennie) gained valuable experience this weekend and will be hungry this offseason. I'm also excited about our incoming freshmen and the rest of our team that has been putting in time this year. Our staff expects to have healthy competition this coming year and for the program to make another jump. Lastly, I want to shout out our loyal fans, families, and donors for all of their support."

The Wolverines tied for 34th-place out of 70 teams that were represented at the national championships. Utah Valley, which went 5-8 this year in dual action with wins over Stanford, California Baptist, Chattanooga, Air Force, and Northern Colorado, was 11th at the Big 12 Championships held March 6 & 7 at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla.

In the classroom, the Wolverines set a program record this year with nine student-athletes receiving National Wrestling Coaches Association NCAA Division I Men's Scholar All-American Awards, announced April 1 by the organization. Under Hall, 14 wrestlers have earned the award over the past two seasons.

"I'm proud of our team's accomplishments this year, both on the mat and in the classroom," coach Hall said in a news release by the Utah Valley Sports Information Department. "Our nine Scholar All-Americans tie a program record and reflect the team's commitment to excellence academically. We've set a high standard, and our student-athletes continue to exceed expectations. Today is another great day for UVU wrestling as we build on our success."

Up next, coach Hall, who won three state championships for the Badgers, has announced a Utah Valley Prospect Camp, which will be held April 10 through 12 in the UVU Wrestling Room for prospective athletes from ninth through 12th grade. The cost of the camp is $50 with instruction provided by coach Hall, his staff, and other members of the Wolverines' wrestling program. The camp is limited to 25 individuals. The three-day camp begins on Friday, April 10 at 6 p.m. with check-in starting at 5:30 p.m. Saturday's sessions run throughout the day, and Sunday's final session begins at 8 a.m. with the camp wrapping up by 10 a.m. For questions about the camp, contact UVU head assistant coach Timmy McCall at [email protected]. All camps are open to any and all entrants, limited only by number, age, grade, and or gender.
