Troy's Tender Lovin’ Quilters Guild to host annual quilting class

The Tender Lovin’ Quilters Guild of Troy will host their annual Quilting 101 class is Saturday, April 11.

The a half-day event is geared to all who are interested in quilting and related crafts. It will be held at the Troy United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

This event is free to the public, the guild likes to offer this to all who are interested in learning how to improve your skills or perhaps learn something new.

The doors open at 9 a.m. and participants will have an opportunity to sign in, register for door prizes and admire the quilts in a little mini quilt show in the sanctuary, where guild members will be displaying the quilts that they finished this last year. You can then head upstairs to grab refreshments, mingle and get ready for demonstrations that will begin at 9:30.

The Quilt Treasure Trove tables will be available at 11:30, where participants may peruse and purchase some gently used quilt related items, followed by a soup and bread lunch furnished for all to enjoy, also at no charge to attendees.

The demonstrations for this years’ event include tips for accurate piecing, everything you always wanted to know about half square triangles, bookmarks and pincushions using vintage materials and crafts using the double diamond ruler. 

They will also be demonstrating wool applique on the machine, talking about the tricky ‘Y’ seams and quick makeovers for orphan blocks.

There is also an opportunity for a follow up class with details to be revealed at the event.
